Patagonia’s Chilkoot is a compact herdsire with long staple length, fine fleece, and bright, luscious fiber. He has a beautiful head and compact body. In 2014, Chilkoot was assessed by Senior Judge, Amanda VandenBosch as an “A-.“ He has consistency in micron as well as in color, large bones, and a gentle temperament. His sire is Patagonia’s Lennox, the ultimate Multi-Champion herdsire. His dam, Patagonia’s Augusta, is a top-line production dam on our ranch. Augusta is a 3x Color Champion and received Reserve Champion at AOBA. Augusta also won 6 blues ribbons in her show career (one being at The Futurity). Paisley's sire is Snowmass Andean Midnight, our dynamite true black male with extreme fineness. His grandsire is none other than Andean Bronze, the sire of Royal Bronze - from Snowmass' vicuna type alpaca retaining fineness under 20 microns after reaching maturity. Andean Midnight has sired numerous champions, including 26x Champion, Estates Stradivarius and 2014 Judge's Choice & Color Champion, Estates Andean Daissann! Her dam, Preta Paloma of FRA is a gorgeous, crimpy, true black female, sired by Full Peruvian Aladdin of KPR (out of 5Peruvian Royal Inca Legend) and multiple blue-ribbon winning dam, Patience’s Paquita. Akiak (pronounced A- kye- ak) Is a Truly stunning Alpaca!

Is eye catching with his dark fleece and presence as he stands very proud showing his solid confirmation that is pronounced by his nice solid bone structure. Out of one of the top well known males in the industry Patagonia’s Chilkoot. Akiak carries a lot of color in his ancestry, pronounced fleece qualities that is uniform and top notch from his top knot to his toes, with a good fleece weight for a male his age and size.

Akiak is a young male that has shown well in the ring at a number of well known shows, collecting a stunning collection of 1st place ribbons in a number of competitive shows. Giving the impression that he is carrying his Sire’s reputation in the ring of Reserve Champion, along with a number of other top ribbons.

He is an up and coming breeding male with many females lined up for him this year. Just looking at his statistics and how he carries himself we are looking forward to seeing his offspring. Akiak carries what we aspire to in our breeding program, he has a lot to offer for breeding for color, fineness with all the character for top quality fleece production. he is registered as a black, BUT, when we sheared we were surprised to find he has brown spots through out his fleece in true Appaloosa fashion, spots along his spine and over his rump. Fleece color has matured to more of a bay black with very dark brown coloring down his legs on the inside to the back outside of his back legs.

Akiak has settled females and is available for breeding to interested females. He has two cria's on the ground now, one female one male both his coloring!
